Surrogacy Journey Timeline

Surrogacy Journey Timeline

Patience is a virtue in any surrogacy journey. On average, it takes between 12-18 months from the initiation of a surrogate search to bringing a baby home (but it can also take a lot longer!).

Aside from the pregnancy itself which takes 9 months, it can take weeks or months to find a surrogate, settle contracts (lawyers are notoriously slow), and schedule an embryo transfer at the fertility clinic.

If everyone is lucky, only one transfer is needed, but many times, the first transfer fails, and another one needs to be scheduled (adding months to the timeline). Not to mention the time it takes IPs to create the embryos for transfer.
