Kayce and Michael

OUR STORY

We met in college, never could have imagined we’d be here 17 years later planning a family, but upon first date we were inseparable. Our time together has allowed us to grow in life, grow together, and find stability. We now feel whole, and over the past few years, have felt a strong urge to begin the parenthood journey. Starting our family now feels right. While it is later in life than we originally imagined, I often consider that we are actually better equipped now to be parents than we were 10 years ago when we were still figuring out “life”.

WHAT LED US TO SURROGACY

I (intended mother) have known since I was quite young that physically carrying a child would be a challenge and risk to my health. I was born with severe congenital scoliosis, which required spinal fusion at age 12. My thoracic deformity resulted in developing restrictive lung disease as a teen. Surrogacy has always been my assumed plan, it was simply a matter of awaiting the moment when it felt right to pursue.

HOPES & DREAMS FOR OUR FUTURE CHILD

Our hope is to provide a safe home, filled with happiness. We have so much love to give, and hope we can offer our future babies the childhood we both enjoyed and more. The chance to grow in a home that encourages play, curiosity, exploration. A life full of treasured memories. We hope they will grow to find their authentic self, able to navigate the world with a level of independence that is right for them. We cannot wait to see who they become and how they express themselves. We dream everyday of the possibilities that lie ahead.

OUR INTERESTS

We’re a creative couple. Michael is an artist in many ways – an independent filmmaker and illustrator, and action figure/media collector. I’m a hospitality based interior designer, that enjoys painting and crafting in my spare time. When not working, we live a calm life at home, or sneak away for some weekend travel. We are avid fans of the outdoors, so when not hiking trails or exploring sand dunes, you’ll find us in our garden with our small pup, Remi. There, we grow vegetables that we enjoy all summer long. We take a fairly holistic approach to health and wellness, and love any opportunity to make better choices with food and household products.

No one likes to talk about surrogate compensation, but it is an important factor in any surrogacy agreement. The following is how we classify high, medium and low compensation (excluding the value of any benefits). Many factors affect surrogate compensation including surrogate experience (e.g., has the woman been a surrogate before?), whether the surrogate is signed up with an agency and surrogate preferences.

  • Low = surrogate compensation less than $30,000
  • Medium = surrogate compensation between $30,000 and $45,000
  • High = surrogate compensation greater than $45,000

You can learn more about how much surrogates get paid in our surrogacy guide’s module: “How much does surrogacy cost?”.
