Q: How did you learn about surrogacy?
A: Phoebe Buffay and the TV show friends, no lie. I always wanted to be a mother, when I was a little girl and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up my answer was “a mom”, so when I was introduced to the idea that someone who wanted that couldn’t have it, but another women could help my answer was why not?
Q. Agency or Independent Journey?
A: I originally wanted to pursue an independent journey but ultimately I ended up feeling more comfortable having an agency who was experienced and knowledgeable about the process. I loved the way CSED out of MA felt like such a good fit. I gravitated toward their thorough and detailed way of matching.
Martha’s Advice to Surrogates
“Know what works for you and don’t feel guilty about stating that. Will it work best for you to have IPs in close proximity or is it best for you to transfer one embryo or is two ok? I know you have a big heart and you want to help but it’s ok for you to prioritize that you and you’re family have needs as well and there will be someone who will align with those needs, I promise.”
Martha’s Advice to IPs
“It meant a lot to me how trusting and considerate my IPs were of my thoughts, opinions, and comfort levels during my prenatal and labor and delivery care. We worked very collaboratively to make decisions together.”
