Bringing More of TBA to the Blog

Our blog never fully disappeared. It simply got much quieter than we intended.

For a long time, The Biggest Ask used this space to share educational information and personal stories from gestational carriers, intended parents and professionals within the surrogacy community. Then there was a fairly large gap between posts while our attention was pulled toward growing TBA, supporting active journeys and creating resources in other places.

A few new articles have made their way onto the blog this year, covering some of the questions people ask us most often:

Those are important conversations, and we're going to keep having them. But we also want this blog to become more than a place people land after typing a surrogacy question into Google. We want it to feel like TBA.

We Have More to Say

Social media has allowed us to build an incredible community. It gives us room to celebrate milestones, introduce intended parents searching for a GC, answer quick questions and share pieces of real journeys.

What it doesn't always give us is enough space.

Surrogacy rarely fits neatly into a caption or a few slides. The most important questions usually come with a longer answer, several different perspectives and at least one sentence beginning with, "It really depends."

There are practical parts of surrogacy that people need to understand, but there are also emotional, relational and deeply human parts that deserve more attention.

  • What happens when a match doesn't feel right?
  • How do you build a relationship without forcing one?
  • What does a failed transfer feel like for intended parents and the GC?
  • How do you support a gestational carrier postpartum?
  • How much communication is supportive, and when can it start to feel overwhelming?
  • What do we wish more people understood before beginning a journey?

Those conversations need more room than social media always allows. This blog is where we plan to give them that room.

You'll Be Hearing More from Us

In the past, many of our blog posts were written by people within the surrogacy community. We still love including the voices of our GCs, intended parents and professionals, and we want to bring more community voices back to the blog over time.

First, though, we're going to spend some time sharing more of our own.

We want to tell you more about why The Biggest Ask exists, how our personal experiences with surrogacy shaped the program and what we've learned from supporting real journeys. We want to explain why we make certain decisions, including ones that aren't always popular or easy. We want to talk honestly about matching, screening, communication, contracts, pregnancy, birth and postpartum support.

Some posts will be educational. Some will be personal. Some will address difficult parts of surrogacy, and others will simply be fun.

Most importantly, we want them to sound like actual people who know this process, care deeply about it and are willing to talk about the parts that don't fit into a polished milestone announcement or an Instagram post.

This Won't Be a One-Sided Conversation

We don't want to publish an article, quietly place it on the website and hope someone eventually finds it.

When a new post goes live, we'll share it with our community and invite you into the conversation. Share it with someone who needs it. Ask a follow-up question. Tell us if your experience looked different. Suggest something you want us to cover next.

Surrogacy is too personal and too complex for any single person or program to present one experience as the universal experience. A gestational carrier may read a post differently than an intended parent. Someone pursuing an independent journey may have different questions from someone working with an agency or program. An ART attorney, therapist or clinic professional may see another layer entirely.

Those differences don't weaken the conversation. They make it more useful.

We Still Want Your Stories

Although you'll initially hear more from our TBA team, we absolutely want to return to featuring guest voices.

We want to hear from gestational carriers who loved their experiences and from those whose journeys were more complicated than expected. We want intended parents to talk about the parts of this process that surprised them, frightened them, challenged them or gave them hope. We want spouses and support people to share what the journey looked like from their side. We want professionals to help explain the legal, medical, psychological and financial pieces families often find confusing.

Not every story needs to end with a perfect hospital photograph to be worth telling.

A failed transfer can teach someone something. A match that ended can help another person recognize an incompatibility sooner. A difficult postpartum experience can change the way future journeys provide support. A healthy boundary can be just as valuable to discuss as a beautiful friendship.

There's room here for all of it.

We're Ready to Make It Feel Alive Again

We're not technically relaunching the TBA blog because, as it turns out, it never went anywhere. We're simply choosing to show up here more intentionally.

You can expect more consistent posts, more of our voice, more community involvement and more opportunities to continue the conversation after an article is published.

If there's something about surrogacy you wish people discussed more honestly, we want to hear it. If there's a question you've been afraid to ask, send it our way. If you've lived through an experience that could help someone else feel informed or less alone, we hope you'll consider sharing it.

The blog has always been here. Now we're ready to make it feel alive again.
