EI & EC
A LITTLE ABOUT US
We met through mutual friends who knew we were both architects. We immediately had a connection and a lot to talk about. EI was new to Boston, and EC loves giving history and architecture tours to friends and family. EC was very smitten and thought it would be a great first date to show EI all of his favorite historic sites and buildings around Boston and Cambridge. It worked! Eleven years later, we are still exploring the city and finding hidden gems wherever we go.
HOW WE SPEND OUR TIME
We are an active couple and are passionate about nature, animals, and hiking. We are fortunate to live within 10 minutes of amazing trails, and we go for hikes, short and long, whenever we can. After a stressful work week, nothing clears the mind like fresh air and beautiful scenery. We believe it is important to raise a child to respect, appreciate, and protect the natural world.
Since we are both architects, we are always thinking about projects to make our home and yard a little better. Our motto is, “We like taking long romantic walks through hardware stores.” When we are not hiking, you will probably find us at our local shop wandering the aisles, getting ideas, and picking up supplies.
When we wind down at the end of the day, we like watching old movies and television shows. We really love a good mystery, and our absolute favorites are the Agatha Christie movies and series.
WHAT LED US TO SURROGACY
Our pregnancy journey has been long and difficult. After several miscarriages, we pursued IVF and became pregnant. After an easy pregnancy, the unimaginable happened: we lost our baby boy, Joe, at birth. The exact cause could not be determined, but doctors believe it was due to complications with the placenta and umbilical cord. We never had the chance to bring Joe home and raise him. His loss has shaped our lives in ways that are difficult to put into words, but our hope of becoming parents has remained an important part of our life together.
Since then, and after multiple rounds of IVF, we learned from our doctor that the placenta is unable to develop adequately to support a growing baby. As a result, EI cannot safely carry a pregnancy. After years of trying to grow our family, we are now hoping to find a wonderful gestational carrier to help us on our journey to become parents.
OUR HOPES AND DREAMS FOR OUR FUTURE CHILD
Like any parents, we want the world for our child. Their dreams will be our dreams. It all starts with growing up in a stable, loving, and nurturing household. We were fortunate to have this ourselves, and this is what we will create for our child.
We look forward to family time over the years: playing together, exploring together, laughing together, and learning together. We cannot wait to share life’s many wonders, the ups and downs, and the happy and sad times. You can do anything and survive anything as long as you do it together.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A MATCH
We would love to have a lasting friendship with our surrogate if she is open to the possibility. Life is so much better when you can fill it with as many wonderful friends and family members as you can. This is one of the lessons our parents taught us, and it guides us through life.
Our lengthy IVF experience has taught us that this journey requires patience, effort, and commitment from everyone. We hope our relationship with our gestational carrier will grow into a close and personal bond, but we also want to be mindful of her preferences. We are open and flexible, and most of all, we wish for a healthy and safe journey for our carrier and the baby.
